1. TREAD WIDTH. Measure out the outside width of the tread. In the example above the tread width is 4.5 inches.
ii. TIRE Bore. Measure the outside width of the tire. This measurement is done horizontally across the middle of the tire. In the example above the tread width is 13 three/four inches.
3. SIDEWALL Superlative. Measure sidewall height of the tire. This is the altitude from the edge of the bicycle to the top of the tread. In the example above the tread width is 3.5 inches.
Know Your Tire Size
The tire size is located on the tire sidewall. In the examples to a higher place, we have circled the size in crimson. The size of the tire on the left is P215/65R-xv. The size of the tire on the right is LT235/85R-16. For additional information on what these numbers mean - click hither.
ADJUSTMENT: Tire chains are designed to fit a range of tire sizes and tread designs. The overall length of the chains may exist longer than necessary.
